RICKEY TATUM

I’m Rickey Tatum, President of OverDrive Logistics.  I was born and raised in Dawsonville, GA, on a family-owned agricultural farm. I’ve spent my whole life on the same farm my grandfather bought in the early 1900s, and I’m still living there today. Throughout my career, I’ve only had two jobs, and OverDrive Logistics is the most recent. Before that, I worked alongside my dad as a poultry exporter for many years. He instilled in me a strong sense of urgency—something essential when working with live animals. It’s all about being determined, consistent, and quick on your feet. I learned how to manage livestock, hatcheries, feed mills, and gained hands-on experience exporting hatching eggs and live chicks to over 50 countries. Handling trucks for these sensitive commodities, and making sure deliveries got to airlines on time, taught me the importance of planning and scheduling. Looking back, I realize God was preparing me for our journey with OverDrive.

OverDrive officially launched in April of 1998. Gary and I started the business with just five metal desks, some filing cabinets, and an old green IBM typewriter—all donated by my dad. He was our biggest supporter and a constant source of motivation. Failure wasn’t an option for us. We worked hard, prayed hard, and God blessed us with success from the start, along with a bit of profitability.

OverDrive is built on faith and the core values we hold as individuals and as a company. God has blessed us with incredible friends, coworkers, and customers, and we’re so grateful. Thank you for your interest in OverDrive Logistics—proudly serving you since 1998!

GARY COPELAND

I’m Gary Copeland, Vice President of OverDrive Logistics. I was born and raised in Dahlonega, GA, where my dad worked as a milk truck driver, six days a week. Being the youngest child, I spent a lot of Saturdays riding along with him. From an early age, my parents instilled in me the values of hard work, loyalty, and Christian faith, and I owe so much to their sacrifices.

After high school, I attended the University of North Georgia and majored in Finance. While working at a local chicken plant during college, I was fortunate enough to meet my wife. I consider myself blessed with an amazing, God-fearing wife and two wonderful, talented kids who are chasing their own dreams. I’m also an avid sports fan, and I had the privilege of coaching my son’s soccer teams for many years. I love my church community and, of course, Georgia Football.

One of the things I’m most proud of is my journey with OverDrive Logistics. When my youngest child was born, I was working for a competitor that took too much time away from my family and what truly mattered to me. That’s when Rickey Tatum, a customer of mine from Dawsonville, encouraged me to step out on faith and start OverDrive Logistics with him. On April 1, 1998, we opened our doors.  Since then, God has blessed us beyond measure. Our friendship and the relationships we’ve built over the years have been priceless. I’m grateful for our amazing coworkers, leadership team, and the best business partner I could ask for.

What makes OverDrive different is the culture we’ve built—one that treats our customers, carriers, and each other like family.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about where OverDrive is heading in the next 5-10 years, and I believe we’re just getting started!
